High Adventure
Climb big mountains. Discover what it is to live. Climb above the distractions. Wilderness is physical and emotional challenge. Hiking, scrambling rocky peaks, and earning incredible views, you'll know who you are and who God has made you to be. Challenge your youth. Get out. Get dirty. Then soak away the sore muscles in the Pagosa Hot Springs.
The majestic San Juan mountains are extreme. In this high and mighty environment learn to preserve and maintain these lands. As a community we build relationships, meet the challenge of wilderness, and glimpse God's amazing love for us.
Youth Group Trips
Sonlight offers week long backpack trips for youth groups, with a final evening spent soaking in the Great Pagosa Hot Springs. We supply backpack gear and two staff skilled in wilderness travel. You bring the young people and teach your program. A typical youth group is two adults and eleven high school age campers. Including two Sonlight staff, the maximum group size is fifteen people.
Sonlight holds US Forest Service permits in the San Juan National Forest, and trips are open to all without regard to race, religion, creed or cookie preference. Sonlight backpack trips are in a wilderness environment. The conveniences of home, the resources in our community, and definitive health care may be hours or days away. Contact us for information on summer 2008 trips.
