2012 Wilderness Week for Girls
For girls entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade
July 29 - August 1, 2012
Cost: $345/$410/$475

Arrival time: Sunday afternoon, July 29, at 3:00 pm at the Sonlight Backpack Base, the first log building on the right as you enter the camp

Departure time: Wednesday morning, August 1, at 11:00 am. Pick up is at the Sonlight Backpack Base.

For 2012! Focus for Wilderness Week for Girls: introductions to leadership, community, and outdoor skills. Under the supervision of two Sonlight staff guides, kids will spend time in the wilderness: packing in their own gear to the campsite, sharing in the cooking and community tasks, and activities which may include hiking, outdoor crafts, archery, challenge games, etc. We believe that wilderness is an ideal environment to teach community and leadership skills. Group size is limited to (8) girls.

Packs will vary by the size of the camper, but will be 15-30 pounds. Campers will backpack in their own gear, Sonlight staff will transport the tents, cooking gear and food.

For 2012, we are continuing our voluntary 3-tier pricing program. Tier (C) represents the actual cost of a child at Sonlight. Tier (B) is a partially subsidized rate. Tier (A) is our historically subsidized rate. It does not nearly represent the true cost of camp operations.

We realize that families have differing abilities to pay. This program is totally voluntary (you choose the price), and it in no way influences the quality of experience each child receives. As always, additional financial assistance is available to ensure all children have this wonderful opportunity to attend camp.
