Counselors
Time Frame
May 30-August 9
Compensation: $150/week, plus room and board, workmen's compensation and laundry. Returning staff $170/week.
Responsible To: Program Director and Camp Director
Minimum Qualifications
* Ability to relate to one's peer group
* Ability to accept supervision and guidance
* Good character, integrity, and adaptability
* Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control
* Must be 18 years of age
General Responsibility:
To identify and meet campers needs
Specific Responsibilities:
- Live with kids, be with kids.
- Guide cabin and/or discovery groups and individual campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
- Identify needs of specific campers, and facilitate problem solving.
- Set a good example for campers and others, including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean-up chores, sportsmanship and table manners.
- Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group.
- Develop opportunities for interaction between campers and staff.
- Provide opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success during camp.
- Help each participant meet the goals established by the camp for camper development.
- Supervise all assigned aspects of the campers day, including morning wake-up, cabin clean up, meal times, daily and evening activities, getting ready for bed and after hours duty as assigned.
- Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations.
- Monitor the whereabouts of assigned campers at all times.
- Help campers plan their participation in unit-wide or camp-wide programs, special events and activities.
- Respect each camper for their uniqueness; within each group help create a community of people: understanding and appreciating diversity, emphasizing communication and teamwork.
- Within the camp setting use opportunities provided to set an example to campers for conservation (of water, supplies and other resources), recycling, and respect for our natural surroundings.
Essential Functions
- Ability to communicate with campers and other staff.
Physical and mental ability to be with campers 24 hours a day.

Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to each activity of the campers and staff.

Cognitive and communication skills to plan and conduct activities to achieve campers goals.

Desire and ability to help campers plan and conduct activities.

Physical and mental ability and strength to participate in all activities with campers, such as sports, teams course, river rafting, archery and hiking.
