Snow over on the west side of the San Juan mountains. Possibly snow in the air this week? Keep an eye on the website, Tim will have Heidi's blog up soon. Great board meeting over the weekend. Thanks Board of Directors for your support.

Kudos to Abby from Durango, for doing a change drive for a school friend who's house burned down. I think that's the compassion Winston was talking about on Sunday! Way to go Abby. Winston successfully passed the exams to operate a freshwater and wastewater system. Hooray for studying!

Fresh snow on the peaks! The skies are blue and clear, but there is a fall chill in the air. Tomorrow is the b*i*g day.. . It's Mike C's birthday! (And Chris B. from Durango also). Winston got a cab for the tractor. He's stylin'!

Our hearts are with Scott Christian-Dold and his family today, as Scott's dad, Mark Dold, was tragically killed yesterday morning in a motorcycle accident, when he swerved to avoid a deer. Scott, Seth, Ann and Kyle: we're praying with you. E-mail mary@sonlightcamp.org if you'd like their address to send a card to Scott and his family.

Los Alamos ladies at camp this weekend. We love this group- mostly mom's of campers, former campers and staff! One gal was admiring a photo collage in the Cathedral, and found a photo of her daughter taken 20 years ago. (Oh my.)

The BEST news of the day is that we have a full time program director! Heidi TeBrink will start the job at the end of November. There is not a better person for the job. We love you Heidi!

Lots 'o critters about. Porky the porcupine has been up on the deck snacking on the flower planters. Women from the United Church of Los Alamos are at Sonlight this weekend.

October 11, 2007

Blackhead Peak and Nipple Mountain are the two peaks you can see due east of Sonlight, across the soccer field. Ever wonder what the view is from the top?

Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

Hail on Friday, blue sky Saturday and Sunday. Men from the United Church in Los Alamos aereated, seeded and fertilized the meadow. Benji chased some ravens. Keefus is excited for the fall retreat.

You can design and create and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it takes people to make the dream a reality.

Must be fall, Winston is hauling hay. Fall retreat Saturday night dinner- we're having a "Harvest Dinner". Get out the overalls 'n bandannas.

October 2, 2007

Bunnies, turkeys, porcupines, deer and elk. The meadow has been busy. A little porcupine was up on the deck happily eating the flower planters last night. What to do with life! Are you wondering how you decide? Well, Glory Be. God has instructions.

Fajitas Saturday night. Sunday morning: naughty, naughty Oscar. He tossed the whole grill off the deck, apparently wanting some too. Check out the new Minnesota pic on the "Around the World" page, thanks Nerby!
