January 31, 2008

The sun is out. Thank goodness. We'd go have some fun, and jump off the roofs into the snow, but the snow is up to the roofs. There wouldn't be much jumping involved in that activity. Heidi is busy with summer plans- a huge box of program fun arrived yesterday. Possibly some glowsticks have arrived. And some shiney things.

January 29, 2008

We have some sweet new sweatshirts- thanks to Hannah B. If you want a snappy new look, send us a check for $30 +$4 shipping, and your size and we'll send you one! Thanks Hannah B.! The shirts look great on everybody. Deer, Erin and Winston too.

January 28, 2008

This is insane. We got another 14" of snow at camp. Here we are again, the passes are closed, and it's still snowing hard. It's getting a bit deep. OK, it's getting really deep. The pic on the right is one of the windows in the dining room, looking towards the Cathedral. Hooray for grass next summer!

January 27, 2008

Heidi and Winston had an adventure getting to the grill. The pic of Benji is the view out the office window. He likes the snow being high so he can look in. Youth from St. Johns Methodist in Santa Fe had a great ski weekend, 17" new snow at Wolf Creek, and blue skies on Saturday. Sunday afternoon, and it's snowing hard.

January 26, 2008

Early morning frost.

January 25, 2008

Lots 'o mail in the mailbox -- but we still have lots of space in the Junior and Discovery camps, and some space in the Adventure Camps. High school camps- Senior High 2 is full, and Senior High 1 still has one boy space. If you're on the wait list, you can watch your place on the list via the wait list page. The password was in your reply materials from the registrar. You can link to the wait list from the home page. St. Johns United Methodist youth arrive tonight. They're in for some great skiing, with a foot of new snow at Wol f Creek. New devo by Russell.

January 21, 2008

We love busses, and little tow trucks who think they're big tow trucks. All in all youth from Valley Presbyterian had a great ski trip, despite a little mis-hap.

Valley Presbyterian oops the little tow truck says "I think I can...."

January 19, 2008

Chocolate chip cookies just out of the oven. Good thing they're hot, because it's freezing outside. Actually it's 8° at 10:00 am. We have the inside info that it was -22° in Pagosa this morning. Youth from Valley Presbyterian Church, Phoenix, are with us this weekend. Tiki torches were out last night.

January 17, 2008

We always know when January is here. The office has W-2 forms strewn around and either Mary or Winston has a puzzled look on their face with numbers swimming before their eyes. Thank goodness a ski group comes tomorrow and we can have some fun with kids. It's very cold, the high today at camp was 10°. New devo is up.

January 15, 2008

Sunny skies, and cold weather on the way.

January 14, 2008

Camp registrations are rolling in, but there is still space in every camp, as of the mail we've received by this weekend. But don't delay! Heidi is busy with many things. She'd love input on the t-shirts for next summer, so check out her blog. (The link is under the pics on this page). And possibly, Heidi would like to get a goat. She was thinking about a puppy, but now she wants a goat. Chris B. has goats, and they're awesome.

January 11, 2008

Sunshine, big snow, registrations and shoveling.

January 10, 2008

Happy Birthday Tim! (the 9th). Happy Birthday Rob! (today).

Heidi's Blog is up again. We love you Heidi! Registrations are pouring in for camp. We've had a few glitches, Wolf Creek has been closed so no mail gets out of Pagosa. Power was out, so Carolyn couldn't get to the electronic replies, and is a bit backed up. So.... patience, and confirmations will be on the way!

January 8, 2008

Mike C. just returned from a great trip to South America. New travel pics are up: Mike at Torres del Paine, Cuermos del Paine in Chile, at Mount Fitz Roy in Argentina, and at Perito Moreno Gacier in Argentina. Thanks Mike for the photos!

Hooray for snow! 72" total out of the storm, on Wolf Creek. 30" at Sonlight. Hooray for Chase and Dylan lending a hand with the shoveling. More snow pics....

January 7, 2007

Here we go again. Big storm. No power for two days. No phone. Lovely! Lots of snow to move, 24" of fresh snow fell on Sonlight in 24 hours.

January 4, 2007

Snow in the forcast, which is always good. We'll see if we actually get a foot or two, or if the storm travels north of us. Winston has the tractors and plow truck ready. We had lot of activity on our website the past two days, folks downloading the registration form. Heidi got all excited thinking about how close it is to summer.

January 2, 2008

The summer theme is "Shine". Matthew 5:14-16

"You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public as a city on a hill. If I make you light bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand -- shine! Keep open houses. Be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up to God"
