Senior 2 camp this week, full to the brim. We are s*a*d for all the kids on the wait list. Mat, Shane, Scott, Thomas, Lindsey and Keith L.,-- some most excellent counselors volunteering this week. Storm clouds a-brewin' over the mountains today, but no rain for teams course. We'll be summiting Blackhead Peak and Nipple Mountain tomorrow. Russell is our speaker, glad to have him back in the neighborhood for the week. High School fall retreat is October 24-26, so mark your calendar all you high school folks!

My apologies for 4 days of no 'what's new' at camp! Lots of busy-ness and fun. Actually, there is a lot new at camp. Awesome poop stories by Jaclyn. Deck dances with glow sticks. Lots of Friday night shine. Awesome, actually. New structures going up in the parking lot.

Corndogs for lunch! Charlie, Winston and Michael are tackling a pole barn over the nurses trailer. All in a good days work.

Hike today up Treasure Mountain, and Alberta Peak. A huge rainstorm at camp- we love green grass! Jeanne Marie finished up our new hammock. It's wonderful.

Hooray for camp!

Lots of staff, CIT's and counselors are ready for an awesome week! Josh and Jaclyn Miles from Tulsa are with us this week. Jaclyn is our speaker, and Josh has a group of high school students here for a discipleship/leadership week.

Wood, pies and fence. Lots 'o work by everybody. We've been reflecting on the summer, thinking about the things that are important. Behind the scenes details to make everything go smoothly. Firewood to heat the lodge in the winter. A light heart as we work really hard. Serving our guests as though they were family.

Still wood chopping, splitting, stacking and trail maintenance. We got lots of work done this afternoon. The food truck arrived in the middle of it all; food deliveries make us happy!

July 9, 2008

Busy day! Nick has a new look and Charlie chopped down a big 'ol tree. It'll keep us warm all winter. We're really happy to have nurse Erin here for a week and the youth from Diocese of Victoria had a great day. We're pretty excited for Adventure 2 next week!

July 8, 2008

We all know what a rental week brings: firewood! Big times at camp. Charlie and crew got a start on cutting and splitting wood today. More fun tomorrow. Nice sign on the walkway.

July already! The youth from Diocese of Victoria are here this week. Bobby K. is here as always. Days are still cool, and we're getting great rain. The Sonlight backpack trip got off to a great start this morning with Winston and Sarah. They looked prepared: GPS units, lots of maps and Benji.

Lara and Samantha, Milly and Sam. The years kind of slide by, and we're welcoming second generation campers. It's been a summer of reflection. 11 children of former staff are campers this summer. Maui is older than most of our staff. The girls bathhouse floor finally gave out. It is our first summer since 1982 without the rec shed. Next summer is our 30th summer. It's all good!
