Thanks youth from St. Johns United Methodist for hay hauling, and cleaning up cut trees. Summer camp 2009 dates are posted. Sonlight is accepting applications for a Director of Summer Resident Camps. This position will take over the administration of the summer camps, and focus on building and working alongside the ministry team of summer staff. Lots ' o changes, and it's all good!

Good news from Charlie, in south Texas. He had rain at his house, but no hurricane type weather. Frost in the air at Sonlight, I think the geraniums may have to move inside today.

Gals from the United Methodist Church in Farmington are at camp this weekend. Our thoughts with Charlie from South TX, as his home is in the path of Hurricane Ike. Our thoughts with everybody down that way. Lots 'o bloomin' flowers on the deck. Green, green, green in the meadow!

We had a brainstorming session with Sonlight Board members, as well as some former year round staff, to review all sorts of things. Todd and Justin missed the photo op, but their input was invaluable. Thanks everybody.

More Colorado pics are up. Mountain goats on Mt. Evans, and scenes from the top of Mt. Evans 14,264'. We hiked Summit Lake to the top. Unusual for this late in the year, but Sonlight has a few ski dates open for the winter. Check out the ski trips page for details. Some of our far away groups cancelled their 2009 ski trip because of diesel prices. (It's a long way from Tuscaloosa, AL to the mountains!)

A great day all around. Check out the Fall Retreat page for the high school fall retreat registration form. Pics here are from around Colorado- Silverjack reservoir, the top of Mt. Yale (14,000+ feet) and Cottonwood pass. The aspen trees are just barely thinking about turning golden. The gas sign is in Steamboat. |
