What's New
January 30, 2009
So big news is that Brett just ordered some new hoodies. Plan on some big time coolness!
Our God is so big, and we have so much to be thankful for. Me? I'm really thankful for my mom right now. Look up, look around you and thank God for the goodness that He gives you every day.

Lory and Winston are getting after it. Rearranging things, installing a washer/dryer. Moving the juice machine. New carpet. New paint. Some guys just get all the fun! 3" fresh powder this morning, and it's beautiful.

Huge snow slides off the roofs. The lodge was shaking when some of these babies came down. Rain this morning. What happened to the snow? But moisture is wonderful moisture. Brett is our new favorite person. He's getting a great start on staff and volunteers for the summer.

No matter any one's political beliefs, it cannot be argued that yesterday was quite a day for history. To be inspired by the youth with a passion, and youth who are involved in something they believe in. Youth who believe in a better day coming for our country. Because of those passions 50 years ago, folks willing to fight for change, we elected a black president in 2008. The zeal of youth today is no different. We are better people because of the youth we work with. Thanks guys.

One of the great things about January is connecting with kids and parents as registrations roll in. We receive many, many incredible comments:
"I appreciate, value, and cherish your spiritual commitment and your commitment to children, teenagers, and adults. Thank you and your colleagues for your uncommon passion to help us all understand what’s important in life."
"...my daughter is so grounded when she returns home from camp..."
So this is why we do what we do.

The sky was on fire last night. And it's a beautiful day at camp today. We had a huge avalanche off the roof of our cabin yesterday, those blocks of ice must have launched off the roof. Brett has a new staff aplication up. If you are interested in being staff, a volunteer or CIT - this is the form you'll use. If you have been any of those before, you do not need to submit a new application. Just e-mail Brett, and let him know you're interested.

Snow or no snow, Benji never wants to miss a car ride. He's patiencly waiting for somebody to go somewhere! Lots of great things going on around here. Brett is receiving applications for summer jobs, so all you college folks, consider a summer on Sonlight staff! We have special needs for an RN, as well as cooks. Camps are filling up, you can check camp availability on the dates and availability page. Carolyn has all the registrations we have received processed, and she's working on sending out the confirmation packets. Thanks everybody for your patience, she had a lot of work all at once!

Internet was out at camp all day yesterday -- makes it kind of hard to get some things done. It's interesting to realize how 'plugged in' we are. When that source of being connected, information and power isn't there, it is missed. It reminds me of Psalm 1:3. "He is like a tree, planted by streams of living water..." To quote the notes in my study Bible: "When a tree is planted by that stream of living water a tree withstands the buffeting of the winds and, flouirishing, it blesses man, animals and birds with its unfailing fruit and shade." I do notice that the verse says planted. It doesn't say "Visit the stream when it's convenient". or "Enjoy the stream when you have time". The word is planted. If internet connection is important, how much more important is being planted in connection to our Holy Father?

Kind of reminds me of a year ago. Lots 'o snow! We have a fresh 12" on top of all the other snow as of yesterday morning. Nice and white around here. The snow shoeing is great. Carolyn is busy with confirmation packets being sent, so if you've registered for camp, be patient, your information will be in the mail soon.

Camper registrations are rolling in, we love seeing who is coming to camp! Winston got brochures mailed today for those of you who wish to wait for the registration form in the mail. Brett has been pretty busy with his Blog, and more folks are posting on the 30-4-30 board. Links are below.

January 1 means that January 2 is pretty close at hand. Which means that camp registration is just about to happen. Registration forms will be in tomorrow's mail. By 8 AM, you'll also have a link on the home page for online registration, or you can download a registration form and return to Sonlight with a check. How awesome is that? Choices in how to register! Sonlight is amazing. And the best is yet to come.
